I’ve been hearing a lot of worried talk about these Flock cameras, as people point at everything bolted to stop lights. This morning, I saw three videos on TikTok, where the creators claimed Flock cameras are tracking everything from our license plates, to our voter registration.
I’ll start this off by saying I don’t know F about S when it comes to government surveillance tech. Ever since I watched dudes track a lady by satellite in Golden Eye [the 1995 movie, not the N64 game we baby Gen X’ stoners loved], I just assumed the government was watching me through my coffee maker. I often do weird sh*t when alone, just in case I can make it awkward for the agent assigned to surveil me.

Today’s mystery: Is Flock Big Brother?
What is a Flock?
Skynet… sorry, Google tells me it’s a network of terminators… I mean, AI-powered license plate readers manufactured by Flock Safety. in addition to the plates, the electronic eyes also detect and note vehicle make and model, bumper stickers, dents, roof racks, etc.

Scary Thought #1
Can it track my Ross Perot for President bumper sticker for political reasons?
Answer: YES
Flock Safety’s automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras capture what they call “vehicle fingerprints.” The intended use of this tech is to create a searchable database to track criminals for the sake of things like solving murders or stopping kidnapping. Investigators have to be able to search this database for anything distinguishable about the car, even if it’s a political ad from 1992. So there is no redaction or blurs like we normies see on Google Earth.
The possibility does exist for an anti Perot extremist with power in the federal government to seek my out-dated political preference in a search, and track my movement.
How could I imagine someone in government abusing this power?
Because: I would.
Once upon a time, I worked for the world’s most famous legal pimp, who decided to run for Nevada State Assembly. His political strategists hooked us marketing trolls up with a system called Meltwater. This was one of the coolest toys I had ever seen for tracking anything posted online and social media, anywhere, in any language. Since I was already having fun dissing a couple of my boss’s trolls on the platform formerly called Twitter, this technology gave me the power to troll trolls globally. It was the most fun I had on the clock EVER!

Since I know how badly corrupt I can get with a database tool like Meltwater, I know in my soul that someone in the Fed world can and likely already has used it for evil. Beside law enforcement, I read that HOAs also have access. Whatever the “investigative purpose” is that’s been declared, the possibility for abuse exists, no matter what the policy.

Scary Thought #2
If your kid gets snatched, Flock to the rescue
Scenario: every parent’s worst nightmare

Imagine it’s happened – in public, while your young daughter was distracted by her phone and you were looking away, she got grabbed now she’s vanished. At this point, every second matters while the creep puts distance between you and the center of your universe, speeding off in a white van.
An Amber alert is issued. Flock cameras automatically sync with national crime databases, looking for the vehicle fingerprint, a van with no plates and a broken tail light, as identified by a witness at the scene of the kidnapping.
“Convoy Analysis” activates, identifying any vehicles traveling close to each other over multiple locations to identify accomplices or vehicle swaps as Inter-agency networks track the perp as a unit with no regional delays.
I can say as a proud father of five, I would break the entire planet to save my kids. Knowing the cameras are there, hooked to a network of professionals that could rescue them from an abduction, makes me selfish when it comes up to the concerns brought up by the ACLU.

Scary Thought #3
They also use it to kidnap brown people
Lyon County Sheriff works with ICE
The modern Nazi death squads called ICE are also using this technology to abduct people to put them into their for-profit concentration camps.
I know there are some of you reading this while pooping, hollering, “This is what I voted for!” I’m aware I am surrounded by racist morons who love watching the roundups of people with melanin and Spanish accents. Thing is, I don’t care what you think because you are Nazis. I’m just shocked to learn so many of you occupy this great nation, and I wish we could deport you traitors.

*NOTE: if you’re just now learning about my brutal honesty and my intolerance for the fascist regime under the orange pedo… surprise!

What we’ve learned
Show and tell time, kids!
I’m finding many stories of local crimes getting solved with the use of Flock. Having been boots on the ground in the search for three separate missing people in Lyon County, which all ended tragically, I appreciate the eyes out there for this purpose.
At the same time, I recognize how they can be, and apparently are being used for more sinister reasons.
If you think it’s just in the big cities, you are mistaken. According to DeFlock, we have one in Dayton, two in Mound House, and seven in Fernley.
Sorry, Yerington… they don’t give a flock about you.
