Brad Pope
For Sheriff
My platform:
I am proud of what we have accomplished together during my first term. The men and women of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office have worked tirelessly to make our communities safer, more engaged, and better served. I look forward to building on this foundation of progress in a second term.
Sheriff Brad Pope was sworn in as Sheriff on January 03, 2023. Since that day Sheriff Popeโs has accomplished the following:
- Staffing levels are full (started with 25 open positions)
- Response times are faster and safer than ever before.
- Traffic stops numbers throughout Lyon County have increased, over 400% in Dayton alone.
- There has been a significant decrease in crimes being committed in Lyon County.
- Arrests related to illegal narcotics, domestic violence and DUI have increased substantially.
- Community involvement and community support of the Lyon County Sheriffโs Office has never been greater.
Key priorities:
- Maintain the mission going forward, by continuing to take an aggressive approach on criminals targeting Lyon County residents. This includes continuing the aggressive targeting of drug traffickers, sex-offenders, child abusers and those individuals that lower our quality of life in Lyon County.
- Increase staffing by utilizing grant resources and projected revenue increases coming to Lyon County in the future. My goal is to increase staffing from 86 sworn positions to 100.
- Secure grant funding that funds a mental health clinician for Lyon County Human Services and funds the MOST Deputy. (The MOST Deputy is in place, this will allow the hiring of an additional Deputy) This grant application is being reviewed at the Federal level.
- Secure grant funding that will provide financial backing towards our traffic safety education and enforcement. This grant application is being reviewed.
